Tuesday ToDo #59

I have been making steady progress in finishing projects this month. Since my husband and I don't do Xmas anymore, I usually have plenty of time on my hands during December.

I finished labeling and binding my Snake River log cabin quilt. The blog post will be posted soon.

I finished assembling and quilting the Flowers for Nana Girl quilt. It still needs a label and binding. I blogged about it here.
I've been working to finish the Arlington Square quilt which I started as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge project. To be honest, I am not loving how it looks. It's a little too scrappy for me, so I have decided to make two smaller size quilts rather than one large one and pass them on once they are finished.
I've also nearly finished quilting my Paducah Log Cabin quilt. There are definitely some mistakes, but I have learned quite a lot on this one. I've been trying to work with Glide thread and it is a challenge, but it stitches up beautifully so I definitely think it's worth the effort to learn how to use it. I've finished quilting the top and bottom borders and all the central blocks, but I still need to rotate the quilt in the frame and finish the last two border edges.

I'm linking up with Design Wall Monday and Tuesday ToDo.

    1. That Paducah log cabin is one of Judy Martin's. It was fairly straight-forward to make, though it was a lot of work. I just love Judy Martin's patterns and I keep adding more of them to my queue.

    1. Thanks! I love how the rainbow flowers turned out. I had planned to gift it away, but now I think I'll hang onto it and pass on another. LOL

  3. Paducah looks like it was a labor of love to piece! I hope you find Glide easier to work with. I love it and have had no problems using in my Nolting Funquilter.

    1. My main problem with the glide thread is that it is so slick that the knots at the beginning at end tend to come untied and it starts to unravel the stitching, so I've had to turn the knot number way up and also, when possible, I've added a few tacking stitches at the beginning and end of the pantographs, but sometimes I forget. But I do love the thread so I definitely think it's worth figuring out.

    1. Thanks. I was quite happy with how it turned out, though I am not entirely pleased with the machine quilting. I'm glad this was not a customer quilt. LOL

  5. I really like the design that your Arlington Square blocks are making! Great idea to make two smaller quilts and give them away if it's not really turning out to your taste, though. Paducah Log Cabin is beautiful!

    1. To be honest I've made so many quilts this year, that most of my recent finishes will get passed on to some family member or friend, including the Paducah. Blue doesn't really match our bedrooms so this quilt will get gifted to someone once I figure out who likes blue. LOL I might keep the rainbow flowers. I don't mind having lots of lap quilts.

  7. I've seen a lot of mention lately of Glide thread - I guess I'll have to check it out. Your log cabin quilt is so pretty. I actually like the scrappiness of your Arlington quilt, but I get it - if it's not doing it for you then it's time for a redesign. Thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!

  8. I too, will have to check out Glide thread. Your Judy Martin log cabin quilt is stunning. I just love two color quilts, and maybe it's because I'm not great at color selection in quilts. Thanks for linking with Design Wall Mondays, Judy
